HIGH EVENING EARLY TEMPERATURES FOR URBAN MILE

Two UK residents joined 180 athletes on one of the hottest evenings of the year to run the Urban Mile through Calasparra and both finished well with 70 year-old Ken Street taking the podium and a trophy in the Veteran Class.
Participation levels were slightly higher for the XII edition of the Milla Urbana (Urban Mile) and included entrants from CA Blas from Elche and CA Playas from Castellón.
Ken, and Kevin Threadwell represented the UK community amongst the 30 local runners.
The whole town centre is closed to traffic for this annual run and athletes, from the very young to the young at heart, complete two circuits around the town.

The trophies were presented by Jordi Arce, the Head of the Youth Department, Teresa Salinas, Head of Education and the President of the Calasparra Athletics Club, Francisco Carrillo.
