Calasparra will benefit from four million euros of investment under the Sustainable Rural Development Plan of the North East (Murcia).
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro is the Vice President of the Committee responsible for the programme.
The Town Hall has presented various projects for approval under the plan including 247,800 euros for new offices for municipal services which will include a new headquarters for the local police; 1,750,000 euros towards the 5 million euros municipal auditorium project; a new sports track probably located in the Los Santos area costing 146,000 euros; 100,00 euros for improvements to sports facilities at La Daya; and a lift and other disabled accesses for Las Pedreras Primary School.
A joint project proposed by the regional government between Calasparra and Moratalla to create a Route of Cave Drawings Patrimony of the North East costing 126,000 euros is also proposed.
Finally a proposal to build a centre for studying, developing and creating commercial activity around beekeeping has been presented by the cooperatives FECOAM and OAG.
The programme committee will meet in September when it will announce which projects have been approved.
