FIFTH RUTA OF TAPAS AND COCKTAIL OF CALASPARRA

Estoque (the sword used by bullfighters), aubergines with honey, roulette of bacalao (salt cod), Sigh of prawns, and a duck magret with passion fruit pure: these are just some of the imaginative tapas concocted by the 15 bars and restaurants taking part in the fifth Ruta de Tapas and Cocktaiuls of Calasparra.

Altogether some 28 new tapa ideas have been specially created for the five weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between October 26 and November 25.
A full list of bars, with a map showing their locations, is availabe from the Tourist Office or the Town Hall. This “passport” to the Ruta del Tapas also facilitates voting for your favourite tapa by awarding points of 1 to 5 in the space provided.
Yesterday the Head of the Department of Commerce and Tourism, Maria Dolores Gomariz, presented the event and congratualted the partipating bunesses on for their effforts and for the “original tapa ideas.”
Each bar must stamp the customer´s “passport” and anyone with more than eight stamps is automatically entered for a Grand Draw with prices including free lunches and dinners. Anyone with all 15 stamps has the chance to win a 40” screen television donated by the sponsors of the event, Estrella de Levante.
Each participating bar or restaurant has prepared two different tapas. A small beer and a tapa costs 2 euros.
