CEHEGIN POLICE WARN OF BUTANE GAS FRAUDSTERS

The local police of Cehegin have intervened to stop a fraud involving the revision and maintenance of butane gas installations after identifying five “inspectors” from a company operating without a licence or accreditation as gas installers.
The fraudsters gain access to homes in order to change the tube to the gas at a cost of 60 euros, according to the police.
Residents approached by “inspectors” of gas, water or electricity should demand to see their official accreditation and confirm the identity of the callers by telephoning the company or the Town Hall which issues the licences. In case of doubt residents should not allow cold callers into their home and should inform the local police of any suspicious callers.
