This infrastructure permits an efficient management and control of water in the area, principally benefitting the rice farmers.
Present at the offical reception of the project were Adolfo Mérida of the CHS, the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa García and heads of local government departments.
The works includes an improvement of the drainage and a spillage point adding a direct exit into the river Segura, which permits regulating the caudals circulating for the canal. This infrastructure is fundamental in order to manage the irrigation of some 150 hectares of crops, principally rice, that requires a rigorous control due to its high demand for water.
The same infrastructure may be used by the CHS in extreme situations to guarantee the ecocological caudal of the river Segura, activating if necessary, the strategic battery of sondas existing in the area.
