WARNING: THE PROCESIONARIA IS ALREADY IN CALASPARRA

As the Regional Government of Murcia advance the campaign against the procesionaria caterpillar, which is so dangerous for domestic animals, several readers have notified Nexonr of sightings in Calasparra.
The work to eliminate the caterpillar lavas in the Murcia region, including Calasparra, will start this year on January 30, 10 days before the usual date. Other local areas to be treated in this 100,000 euros campaign are the regional park of El Valle and Carrascoy; the Pliego Castle, the Muela de Albudeite Sierra, in Bullas and other areas of public use in Moratalla, Blanca, Ricote, Jumilla, Alhama, Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras and Mazarrón
The decontamination will be intensified to destroy the nests and the caterpillars in recreation areas and busy public areas.
Precaution is recommended for people who enjoy walking in the monte during February and March when the caterpillars are visible, and it is recommended to avoid forests and woods where there are nests particularly on warm, sunny or windy days.
A special warning for those who have domestic anmials who may eat or sniff the caterpillars, which can produce severe allergic reactions including death.
