There is enough drinking until the end of September this year, says the Management of the Tailbilla Canals and the Segura Water Board, ruling out restrictions.
However, from March there will be a 50% reduction in irrigation water for those using traditional irrigation ie. water canals, and a 30% reduction for those using other methods such as the drip irrigation.
The Segura Water Board has announced an «extraordinary drought» in the Murcia region where the reservoirs of the Segura standing at just 18% capacity.
Last November the Board announced an «alert» for the situation and reduced the traditional irrigation water by 25% and others by 30%.
The Board is also considering using water from the underground drought wells to relieve the effects of the drought.
