TORRENTIAL RAIN AND FLOODING ALERT

Today, Saturday, the Met Office has issued a serious weather warning for the whole of the Murcia region, which remains in force all day and all night.
This special warning alerts residents to the risk of persistent torrential rain, which could lead to serious flooding.
There have been a series of tragic incidents in Spain recently where people taking refuge in their cars or trying to escape the flooding in vehicles have been swept away by the water. Some of those people have sadly died.
Readers are encouraged to take these warnings very seriously and in case of any emergency to call the emergency number 112.
The following advice has been issued by the Met Office:
Please check official weather forecasts and weather warnings for your area.
Check any underbuilds for leaks and flooding and clear drains and guttering.
Do not park vehicles in or near dried river beds, near rivers or river banks, streams or any other source of running water.
Do not attempt to cross floods by foot or in a vehicle.
Avoid travelling, especially by car, and especially on secondary roads.
Call the emergency services if you have any problems or need assistance.
