Some 53 lires of rain per square metre fell in Calasparra between 8pm on Monday night and 9am Tuesday morning.
While these spring rains are a welcome relief from the impending drought conditions predicted for the region after the driest winter for years residents in Bullas, Cehegin and Caravaca woke up on Tuesday morning to a blanket of snow.
The weather forecast for the rest of the week is more rain this afternoon followed by a day of wall to wall sunshine on Thursday. Predictions are for sun and cloud on Friday and Saturday and for more rain on Sunday. Next week the temperatures are expected to recover slightly and the days should feel warmer.
