Last night, as the flames on San Miguel lit up the sky, residents of Calasparra congregated in the Plaza de la Corredera to demonstrate their repulsion for yet another environmental disaster in the local area.
Over the past few years the Calasparrians have seen their natural heritage burn and if you walk around the hills locally the evidence is there to see. Acres and acres of burned mountainside and charred pines.
Last night Calasparrians met to console each other and to lament this new loss, one of the most emblematic local hills, the Sierra de San Miguel.
