Fire fighters and helicopters have saved the tiny chapel on the top of the Sierra de San Miguel from the fire that devastated the hillside last night.
Surrounded by small bushes and grass fire fighters were able to prevent the fire devouring the small building.
There is a traditional pilgrimage every year from Calasparra to the chapel in which hundreds take part, young and old.
It may be a small consolation for local residents.
