On Saturday afternoon at a packed Alandalus, early celebrations started with a Christmas Sing A Long to raise funds for the MABS Cancer Support Fundación Calasparra Area.
A Guess the Cake Weight competition, which had been made handmade by Michelle was the first fund raising event of the afternoon with the correct weight (3 1/2lbs) being guessed by Karin – the local MABS Co-ordinator. However, Karin is going back to the Netherlands for Christmas, so she put it into the Raffle Prize draw.
So many prizes for the General Raffle showed the generosity of local Charity supporters with prizes ranging from Soap Dispenser & Flannel and Peg Bags to bottles of Vodka, Chocolates and Jewellery. A large and small Food Hamper were also raffled off with a great selection of «Christmas Goodies» for the lucky winners.
As the event started at 4pm, because of England’s match following in the evening, we got underway with the Sing A Long soon into the event after FREE Hand Made Mince Pies were handed out – very tasty.
Every one was in good voice from the start and as time went on the singing became louder, probably due to the good supply of liquid refreshment from the bar staff but the best was yet to come.
A rendition of The Twelve Days Of Christmas by everyone was amazing. Each Table had to stand up to sing the verse that corresponded to their table number, then if you knew the song, everyone had to follow on back to the first verse. A little confusion at the start occurred, which we put down to nerves, but we had a rerun, which resulted in a fantastic display of singing and coordination – well most of the time anyway.
There was Christmas music from past and present played, and some of the revellers got up to boogie away and maybe to work off the Mince Pie!
Karin, Jane and Michelle put on a fantastic event supported by so many of the local residents who came to support the charity. The event raised 312 euros, which was amazing.
So MABS would like to thank all the supporters who came along, generous with their donations and financial support.
