The Mayor of Calasparra will, form part of the new National Executive of the Socialist Party, PSOE, with special responsbility for small communities and towns.
The move comes as Pedro Sanchez, who was elected General Secretary of the national PSOE by a massive majority, launches a major reshuffle and restructure of the party.
Velez, who was a voluble supporter of Sanchez during his campaign, has declared himself “delighted… particularly because socialism has been strengthened in the Murcia region.”
The PSOE held its National Congress this weekend, confirming Pedro Sanchez as Leader, and making various policy decision and changes.
Velez says: “The most important measures we have approved are in the social sector and aim to find solutions for citizens who are most in need.”
Former Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, also makes the Executive as Secretary of Institutional Politics and the PSRM Autonomy.
