The Autonomous Community of Murcia has approved the major restructuring of the 48 kilometres of the RM-730 between Caravaca and the Venta de Olivas which aims to improve connections between the region and Madrid.
The carriageways will be doubled for the length of the road.
The Town Halls at Calasparra, Cehegin, Bullas and Caravaca have been demanding the improvements to the RM-730 for some time but plans were shelved during to the financial crisis.
The Mazarrón – Puerto road will also be redoubled into a motorway. The cost of the two projects is estimated at 200 million euros.
Consultation work for the two projects has already been put out to tender, however, there is, as yet, no start date for work on the motorways.
