MAYOR ATTACKS NEW LAW ON LOCAL ADMINISTRATIONS

The Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, in his role as regional deputy, has launched a scathing attack on the draft law reforming local adminstrations as “unconstitutional.”
Speaking on Radio Calasparra the Mayor attacked the law which has passed through Congress and is currently being considered by the Senate. He claims residents will “lose out” as services are privatised and will have “less resources and pay more taxes.”
As an example he said parents who currently used the nursery would have to pay the full cost of the service under the new law “not to mention the sports facilities, the music school and social services” he added.
He described the law as “interventionist” and denied it would simplifiy the responsibilities of the adminstrations and avoid duplication but would open the door to privatization.
The Mayor also attacked the Government for blaming the Town Halls for the crisis as “irresponsible” especially as local adminstrations were only responsbile for 4% of the public debt, he said.
