The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Sanitary Products has ordered the immobilization of the flu vaccine from the Novartis Laboratory for a “minimum defect of quality control.”
Some 9,000 doses of the delivery and 60,000 vaccines distributed have been withdrawn but “do not pose any problem to the health of patients,” according to the Spanish and Swiss regulatory authorities.
“The persons vaccinated do not run any risk to their health nor do they need to be monitored and they are protected against flu,” said a spokesperson.
The vaccine has been withdrawn as a precautionary measure in Spain, Italy and Switzerland.
According to the regional Department of Health flu jabs with vaccines from different laboratories will continue while the Ministry negotiates the purchase of alternative supplies. At this point the vaccination programme will resume with normality.
