FANCY RUNNING 21K AT 1,000 METRES ABOVE SEA LEVEL?

It´s that time of year again and the runners are limbering up for the gruelling Mountain Half Marathon, “Memoral for Antonio de Bejar;” organised by the Club Alpino of Calasparra, with the Town Hall and in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of the Murcia region.
On Thursday the President of Club Alpino, Alonso Javier Lozano, the director of the trials, Mario Jiménez, and the head of the local sports department, Antonio Martínez, officially presented this year´s half marathon in the Casa de la Cultura.
The Half Mountain Marathon is run on the Sierra del Molino and is 21 kilometres long at 1,000 metres above sea level along mountain tracks and forest paths. The novelty this year is that the race will be permanently marked out with 52 signs which begin in the Gran Via. A symbolic plague will be installed in the central square, Emilio Pérez Piñero.
According to Alonso Javier Lozano, there are already 120 inscriptions, including 10 local runners. The organisers are expecting 250 runners to take part.
The trials, included in the Official calendar of the “Región de Murcia Running Mountain 2015″, will be held on May 30 and starts at 6.30pm from the Gran Via.
