The legal and political approvals for the exchange of UK driving licences for Spanish ones are underway. and, once the agreement has been published in the official state bulletin, BOE, you will be allowed to drive for six months on your UK licence while they go through the exchange process.
No dates have been published yet for the competition of the process and the publication in BOE.
After the six months are over, if you have not exchanged your UK licence you will not be able to drive in Spain, however you will still be able to exchange your licence for a Spanish one.
Obtaining a Spanish driving licence involves a short test of your eyesight and reactions. You may also have a brief interview with a doctor.
While waiting for your Spanish driving licence to be issued you will be given a certificate showing you have passed the test in order to exchange your licence which will be valid for three months.
