Calasparra has joined the World Network of Religious Tourism as a destination for pilgrims and cultural tourism.
This is a significant step towards Calasparra´s international projection that has been driven by the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, who became interested in the project two years ago. However, it was not until January of this year, during the International Tourism Show, FITUR, that Calasparra´s incorporation became a reality.
It was at FITUR this year that the Mayoress collected the certificate that accredits Calasparra as part of this prestigious network and offers an unique opportunity on an international scale to facilitate the arrival of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.

The creation of the World Netowrk of Destinations of Religious and Spiritual Tourism is an initiative of the Tourism and Society Think Tank in colaboration with associated businesses, created to promte religious tourism and culture in different regions and countries. This network has, as its mission, the strengthening of intercultural understanding, to promote respect for religious diversity and contribute to the sustainable development of destinations that specialize in spiritual and religious experiences.
