Some 18 million drivers in Spain who have not committed any infraction or traffic offence since the introduction of the points system in July 2006 will receive a “free point” from the Ministry of Transport.
According to the law any driver with more than three years “clean driving” will receive one extra point, bringing their total to 15 points, as a reward for responsible driving.
Of the 26 million drivers in Spain 18.8% have lost points since 2006 for infractions or driving offences
