The Local Police of Calasparra marked the day of their Patron Saint, St Ángel Custodio, last Friday and marked 136 years of service to the local community.
The Mayoress of Calasparra, Tertesa Garcia, presided over an official reception for local police officers with the Chief of the Local Police, Miguel Ángel Martínez.
A celebration followed in Calasparra Town Hall recognizing the work the officers carried out daily at the service of the town, which was attended by members of the local government team, chiefs of the Guardia Civil as well as workers and civil representatives of the area.
The Mayoress thanked the officers for guaranteeing the security of the town and announced nine new police officers for the local force.
During the celebrations various officers were recognised for their service including Miguel Moret, ex-chief of the Local Police with a 36 year srvice record; ex-officer Ricardo Reales who also served for 36 years and died recently; and Juan Soria for 32 years of service.
