The last act of a weekend of celebrations jam packed with entertainment, fun for the kids and shopping at the crafts and artisan medieval market was the Gran Medieval Parade.
Two years of the pandemic has curtailed the anniversary celebrations of the Donation of Calasparra to the Order of San Juan. This year all the characters from this historic event were represented accompanied by four bands, a group of horses and riders in medieval guise, and representatives of the Medieval royal court.
Special guests at the parade were groups from Lorca and Molina de Segura. From Lorca came The Federation of San Clemente; the Patron de Lorca Frontier City; and Arabs, Jews and Christians.
From Molina de Segura came the group, Huestes de Fernando III; Mudéjares de Muley Alufe; Prince Juan Manuel, Gentlemen and Dames from Cid Campeador and IBN Mardanix Rey Lobo.
The parade ended with a numerous group of horsemen and women representing the Orden de San Juan de Jerusalem.
The spectacle took over the streets of Calasparra, especially decorated for the occasion, and commemorated an important part of the history of our town.
