The rapid action of the Forestry Surveillance of Plan INFORMUR when they saw a column of smoke in Calaparra yesterday prevented a major fire.
Yesterday afternoon the Surveillance team alerted 112 emergencies before attending the scene to find a mattress burning and the fire already spreading to plants and risking vegetation nearby.
Thanks to this rapid response by the Protection Civil of Calsparra the fire was rapidly extinguished.
Once again the preventative action and surveillance, coordination with 112 and the rapid intervention on the ground underlines the importance of prevention and rapid response to any source of fire.
If you see smoke or fire call 112 immediately. Your call could be the key to preventing a forest fire.
Editors Note
Readers are reminded that any fire is prohibited during the hottest months of the year so if you see smoke or fire please call 112 immediately.
