Nexonr published today an article confirming that the taxes on your electricity bill have been frozen again and we mentioned the “Bono Social Electrica”.
A Nexonr reader has asked us to explain.
This “bono social” constitutes a considerable reduction on electricity bills and is aimed to help low income families, “vulnerable consumers” and “severely vulnerable consumers” who contract 10kw or less of electricity.
If you apply for the Bono your supplier must make a decision on your legibility within 15 days and give you reasons in writing if they refuse.
The sum of the monthly income of a family unit (unidad familiar), that is a couple and their children under 26 years or older if they have a disability, is divided by the number of members in the family and may not be more than 723.75 euros monthly.
A “vulnerable consumer” would have a “minimum pension” (835.80 monthly) plus 500 annual income.
A severely vulnerable consumer would have an annual income of 7,908.60 euros or less.
Editors Note: This is a simplified version of a complex issue. For example your UK pension, paid every four weeks, will be calculated as 13 payments annually. If you think you qualify you may enquire at the Consumer Rights Office in the Town Hall or at the Ibredrola Office in Calasparra or apply to your supplier. However, you will need to use Spanish for all these options.
