Masks will become part of our normal lives for the foreseeable future as the Council of Ministers approves a Royal Decree for the New Normality, which establishes urgent prevention, containment and coordination measures to deal with the health crisis caused by COVID19, when the State of Alarm ends.
The use of mask will remain compulsory in enclosed public areas and open air public areas where social distancing cannot be guaranteed. An important change is that the social distance between people has changed from two metres to one and half metres.
Masks remain obligatory on public transport although all seats may be used if necessary.
Public transport providers must keep passenger lists and make these available to the health authorities on demand.
The main contents of the Royal Decree is concerned with regional and local health authorities guaranteeing diagnostic testing, sufficient front line medical staff and medication; and sufficient masks and surgical gown to meet the demand:
Health authorities must guarantee their adequate preparation for a new outbreak of the virus.
