An unmissable date on this the first weekend of the summer is the opening concert in the Association Band of Music of Calasparra’s summer programme which will be in the Plaza de la Corredera on Sunday June 26 at 10pm under the direction of Alejandro Zamorano Lucas.
Today, Friday, is the Fiesta of San Juan, which is not an official holiday but is the “name day” for all the Juan and Juanas (as the Spanish have two “birthdays:” the day they were born and the day of their particular saint). As both the male and the female version of the name are extremely popular in this area expect the locals to turn out in force tonight for beer and tapas or a late supper.
