The Director General of Energy, industrial Activity and Mining, Esther Marín, has declared that the thermo solar plants in Calasparra, Puerto Errado 1 and Puerto Errado 2, are “a world reference in thermo solar technology.”
The Director General was visiting the two local sites this week when she emphasised that “these plants generate clean energy of higher potential than conventional technology through a circuit of hot oil, and in this way help the progress of the municipal area of Calasparra and the region, as well as creating employment.”
She declared that the existence of these thermo solar plants “place the region in the vanguard of this technology internationally, so demonstrating, not only that is it viable and profitable, but that it is an ideal platform for investigation and development.”
The plants produce more than 46,000 mega watts annually. This is 1.6 percent of the renewable energy produced regionally and 0.87 percent more than the total produced by all technologies.
