A campaign to prevent sexually transmitted diseases amongst young people has been launched by the Ministries of Health, Social Services and Equality to coincide with World Aids Day on December 1.
Under the slogan “You Decide What You Share” the campaign promotes the use of condoms and encourages young people to avoid high risk activities and to talk with their partners.
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of sexually transmitted diseases diagnosed in Spain continues to increase and the majority of diagnosis are for people under 30 years of age.
Some four in every 1000 people nationally are infected with HIV and 18% of people with the virus do not know they are HIV positive.
Sexually transmitted diseases can be avoided by using a condom.
Early detection and adequate treatment are fundamental in the case of sexually transmitted diseases.
