This year´s World Championship Brick Throwing Competition, a traditional part of the Valentin Fiestas, will raise funds for the charity, Conquering Barriers, which finances investigations into Muscular Distrophon Waists.
The competition will be held on June 17 in the Plaza de la Iglesia, Valentin, at midday.
Organized by the FILVA Association and the charity, Conquering Barriers, in the past this event has attracted hundreds of participants.
Entrants will throw bricks, manufactured by artisans in Valentin, weighing 750 grams for adults and 375 grams for minors. There is no age limit in the adult section and both women and men can take part.
The “throwers,” who have two throws, must obey regulations, which include that feet must not leave the ground and the throwing arm must not move behind the body.
Participants can sign on half an hour before the competition at three euros for adults and one euro for minors of under 16 years.
During the event adults throwers will be given free beer provided by the sponsors, Estrella de Levante and will also have the opportunity to try a new beer from the brewery, beer with lemons: “Verna.”
There will also be raffles and prize draws, with donated prizes, for the participants.
