The pilgrimage from points all over Andalusia to Almonte, Huelva, for the Fiesta del Rocio is a colourful, traditional event which, this year, was also celebrated in Calasparra.
At this time of year the religious brotherhood of the Virgin del Rocio plays host to affiliated religious brotherhoods, which travel by foot, on horseback or in colourfully decorated horse drawn carriages to pay homage to the Virgin del Rocio in Almonte.
In Calasparra, our own Rocio Choir marked the event in a meeting with other “Rocios” when they celebrated a mass with floral donations and a fiesta in the local streets.
