Work begun last week on the improvements and lengthening of the white water slalom course and to restore the river beach in the Remolino del Cañar in the river Segura.
The work should finish by the spring this year.
Heavy machinery has begun work on both projects simultaneously. IN the upper part of the river they have begun installing breakwaters and lengthening the existing slalom course in order to facilitate training and practice.
The work on the lower part of the river aims to restore and improve the River Beach, which is popular with local residents in the summer.
The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa García, and members of her government team, joined representatives of the Segura Water Board (CHS), the Municipal Canoe Club, and the companies carrying out the work to present the project on site.
