Residents of Calasparra came together on Monday night in the Plaza de la Corredera to remember eight year old Gabriel Cruz, whose body was discovered 10 days after he went missing from his home in Almeria.
Spain has been deeply moved by the tragedy and hundreds of people travelled to Almeria to help in the search. However, on Monday the child´s body was found in the boot of his father´s sentimental partner´s car by the Guardia Civil.
In Calasparra, and all over Spain, people met to express their grief and solidarity with the family.
More than 300 candles were lit in the Plaza de la Corredera as a crowd of residents stood in silent vigil.
Gabriel´s funeral was held in the cathedral in Almeria today, Tuesday.
