Calasparra Town Hall, through the Department of Agriculture, has announced free agricultural courses for local farmers and smallholders in collaboration with UPA and FECOAM.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, said the courses were aimed at people already working the land or for “farmers of the future” who were over 18 years old.
The courses will be held in the Youth Centre and are completely free of charge.
“We must preserve and support the most important sector for the regional economy: agriculture. A sector which has developed and adapted to the times and to different needs,” he said.

UPA Course are:
March 21 and 22: Fertile irrigation and fruits with stones
April 9 and 10: Handling fruits and vegetables
May 24 and 25: Secure use of the moving platform
June 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15: Professional use of fito sanitary products. Basic level.
June 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 : The wellbeing of animals during transport
July 9, 10 and 11: Managing and maintaining local irrigation systems
FECOAM courses are :
PRL tractor- 14 hours; warehouse 10 hours; professional use of fito sanitary products (Qualified level) – 60 horas
