The national white water canoe team, which included young Calasaparrian, Juan Martínez Rodríguez, was just two seconds away from being Junior European Champions at the weekend.
The national team logged the best time but, with two second penalty, came in second place behind Germany.
The championships, in Bourg Saint Maurices, in the Alps, were a the first European trials with Juan in the team although he competed in the World Championships in Slovakia where the team came in 32nd place.
This weekend Juan will tak epart in the National Championships in Ponts, Lerida.
