Despite severe weather warnings issued by the Met Office for the North West of the region of Murcia Calasparrians will probably only see snow on the distant mountain tops around Moratalla.
While Calasparra benefitted from prolonged showers last night, Monday, the first snows fell in nearby Moratalla and at points in the region above 800 metres above sea level.
North West Murcia is one of 23 regions which remain on orange alert for severe weather over the next two days, according to sources at the Emergency Control Centre, which has issued a warning of “40 to 70% probability of seven centimeters of snow.”
Tomorrow snow may fall in areas 600 metres above sea level but by Tuesday conditions should begin to improve.
