Two local men were arrested by the Guardia Civil after a burned out stolen car was found abandoned in a field just outside Caravaca.
The two men had allegedly stolen the car in Calasparra, then after setting fire to it in a field, stole a moped which they later abandoned.
Witnesses were able to give descriptions of two men leaving the scene of the burned out car which enabled the Guardia Civil to arrest them.
During their investigation the Guardia Civil discovered that various residents in Calasparra and Caravaca had reported damage to their vehicles which coincided with the modus operandi of the two detainees: the locks of the vehicles had been forced in order to steal the contents and/or steal the car.
The two men have appeared before magistrates in Caravaca charged with vehicle theft, arson and robbery.
