It seems all did not go to plan at the Caverina Bull Ring, Calasparra, last night as a matador infuriated the crowd by refusing to kill his second bull and his junior (bull fighter) got into a fight with the promotor of the bull ring and broke his glasses.
Apparently, at one stage, when Alejandro Marcos refused to kill the bull because, he alleged, the bull had vision problems, there was a danger that fighting would break out in the crowd.
The authorities, which govern the bull fights, decreed the bull was healthy and had taken part in the bull run during the morning with no problems. A decision which means the matador could face a fine of up to 30,000€.
Meanwhile, another ugly scene was developing between the “junior” of the offending bull fighter, who got into an argument with Pedro Chicote, the promoter who organises the bull fights in Calasparra.
Reportedly, he attacked the promotor and broke his glasses although, apparently, he apologised afterwards.
These incidents plus the decision by the Committee not to award the sought after Espiga del Oro for the best bull fight or to the stockbreeder for the best bulls, brought a week of bull fighting to a sorry end.
But, of course, not everybody will lament that!!!
