Calasparra Town Hall has begun the process of sealing the old station building to avoid vandalism and illegal occupation.
The station was closed in 2019 and since then the lack of use and maintenance has caused a progressive deterioration of the buildings which form part of the local patrimony.
The aim of sealing the building is to prevent access to the interior, avoid further damage and guarantee the buildingś security while it awaits a definitive project of rehabilitation or a new project.
The old station is one of the historic enclaves in Calasparra and different sectors of the local community insist it is necessary to conserve it until its future has been decided.
