Calasparra Town Hall presented a project, which aims to fight the depopulation of rural areas, to the Socialist European Deputy Marcos Ros on his recent visit to Calasparra.
Marcos Roy, Deputy for the Murcia region at the European Parliament, was on an official visit to inspect the work to restore the terraces at the local sanctuary, which are part funded by FEDER (the European Fund for Regional Development).
The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, and members of her government team accompanied the Deputy on a visit to the Sanctuary where he was able to see the progress of the restoration project.
Following the visit the local government team and the EU Deputy discussed the help and impetus from the EU Parliament to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Our local representatives also presented a Portal Digital Innovation Project, Calasparra Smart City, designed to confront the depopulation of rural areas and in particular Calasparra, for which they are seeking EU funding.
They also discussed the assistance from PAC (the communal agricultural policy), focussing on the future of agriculture in Calasparra and its digital and rural transformation.
