Thirty of the 39.6 mm of rain, which fell in Calasparra yesterday afternoon, fell in 10 minutes wreaking havoc in the streets, flooded basements and bringing down part of the spectator area in the Caverina Football ground.
Calasparra and Moratalla were in the eye of the storm which swept through North West Murcia region bringing torrential rain, strong gusts of wind and hailstones.
Parts of the town centre were flooded and other high lying areas turned into rivers.
Several power cuts were reported and the Protection Civil and the Municipal Services had to come to the aid of residents with flooded basements.
