A Calasparrian man has been arrested by local police after several illegal arms, including a pistol and a rifle, were found in his possession.
The arrest took place yesterday Thursday March 1, at 2.30am after the police followed the man as he left a central cafeteria in his vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and searched at the crossroads of the Gran Via and the Carretera Mula at a control point.
J.P.G.E, aged 47 years, was found to have a 9 mm revolver which had been modified to fire 22 calibre ammunition and cartridges on his person and in a jacket pocket local police found a pistol with cartidges and ammunition for a rifle.
A 16 calibre rifle was found in the suspect´s vehicle and ammunition for all the arms. The serial number on all the guns had been rubbed off.
The investigation remains open and according to police sources there may be more arrests in connection with an arms trafficking ring.
