STAR GAZERS SPOT FIRE BALL OVER MURCIA

If you were star gazing at 3.26 am Thursday morning you may have spotted a fire ball, ten times brighter than the moon, crossing the sky and exploding.
According to the La Hita Astronomical Group (Toledo) they registered the fire ball which was visible from the Murcia region, Castilla de la Mancha, Madrid and Andalusia.
The fire ball was produced as a consequence of an impact between a rock, travelling at 90,000kph, and the atmosphere. The collision rapidly raised the temperature of the rock turning it into a ball of fire travelling at some 100k above Albacete. It moved rapidly  north east falling to 55 k in height before exploding: an explosion which momentarily turned night into day for a fraction of s second, according to witnesses.
The rock was completely destroyed and no fragments fell to earth, say experts.
