LOCAL POLICE CHIEF ADVISES ON HOT WEATHER PROTECTION

The Chief of the Local Police of Calasparra has issued the following advice to keep senior citizens and children safe as temperatures spiral.
Calasparra is currently part of a national heatwave and with temperatures hovering near 40C for most of the day it is more like August than June.
This boiling weather means we all need to take special precautions but children and elderly people are particularly vulnerable to heat stroke.
The Local Police advice is:
Drink water constantly even when you are not thirsty. Avoid drinks with high sugar levels and alcohol.
Wear light clothing, loose and pastel colours. Do not forget your hat and sunglasses.
Stay in the shade. Avoid going out and phsyical activity or exercise in the open air between 12 midday and 4pm.
Protect yourself. Apply sunscreen before going outside.
Look after vulnerable people especially children and senior citizens. Ensure your pets have plenty of cold water and access to shade.
If you have any signs or symptoms of heat stroke call the Emergency number 112 immediately or the Local Police on 696442200.
The heat can be extremely dangerous, respect it and take care.
Editors Note
According to the weather forecast the heat should abate after Wednesday. However, the Murcia region is famous for high temperatures and the long term forecast for the summer is at least three months of sizzling weather.
