The Head of the regional Department of Promotion and Infrastrucutres had a site meeting with the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, and Anthony Merino, Head of the local Public Works and Urbanization, this week to discuss various projects proposed by Calasparra but which fall within ther remit of the regional government.
These are:
A bridge connecting the Esparragal Road with the RM-714
Repairs to the service road T-1 between Calasparra and Cieza
Restoration of the «Puente Nuevo» iron bridge over the river Argos and the MU-552 Mula Road and the bridge over the river Seguro plus repairs to the old road 3314.
Lighting in busy areas, both traffic and pedestrians, such as the entrance to the Mula Road and the road to Valentin passing for the Cuesta Blanca and the entrance to the town from the RM-714-
These are:

Repairs to the municipal footpaths CRPO-13-103 which joins the town with the rice fields and that connects Calasparra with the Abrigos del Pozo.
A study of how to improve the intersection with the RM-714 at the 44k point (the North entrance) with a possible new access to permit the entrance and exit of the town in both directions.
Merino underlined once more the «absolute necessity» for the Motorway of the North to upgrade the existing RM-714 (Autovia del Norte) an historic demand from Calasparra to alleviate the isolation of the town and provide a vertebra for the region by road.
“A connection which is within the competence of the region and for which our town has been waiting 15 years, following the original announcement by the regional government. Now we learn no project exists for building the road, just repairing the existing one. We are going to apply to the Region for, at least, a draft project and concise and clear information for the public, » said Merino.
