SECOND FULL COUNCIL MEETING FOR CHILDREN

Today, to mark the International Day of Children´s Rights, the Town Hall will hold a Full Council Meeting for Children for the second year running.
The meeting will be at 12 midday today, Wednesday, and all the local education centres, infant, junior and senior will be taking part.
The Head of the local Education Department, Teresa Garcia Sanchez, told Radio Calasparra. “This is one of the objectives contained in the UNICEF “Child Friendly City” project, which aims to give children and adolescents a voice for their concerns and proposals for their local area.
At the meeting last year Teresa Garcia says many of the proposal had already been fulfilled, and amongst the most ambitious (a safe space for young peoplefor alternative leisure activities) has already been adopted as a project.
“We are planning to offer this space, which is so sought after by young people in Calasparra, and which will a space free of the consumption of noxious substances. We are working on this,” she added.
The facade of the Town Hall will be lit up in blue tonight, in line with to a proposal by UNICEF, to mark and give visibility to International Day of the Children´s Rights.
