A REMINDER ABOUT VOTING UK DEADLINES

Brits In Spain, British Embassy in Madrid website, reminds for those of you that are eligible about deadlines for voting in the UK General Election on 12 December.

There are two ways to vote from Spain – by post or by proxy. To vote by post you must apply for your voting pack by 5pm (GMT) on 26 November.

To vote by proxy the deadline is 5pm (GMT) on 4 December. Some of you have said that you would like to have a proxy vote, but don´t know anyone in your constituency. If your proxy cannot get to your polling station, they can apply to vote for you by post from the UK. They must apply to do this by 5pm, 11 working days before the poll. They can contact the electoral services team at your local council (where you are registered) for more details and to request a further application form.

You cannot vote by post from abroad if your registered address is in Northern Ireland. If you are registered in Northern Ireland, applications to vote by proxy must be received by 5pm on 21 November by the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland.
