The traditional «chupenazo» ( rocket) was lit by the youth group, The Administration, and launched from the balcony of the Town Hall at midday on Saturday to mark the beginning of the festivities.
Hundreds of people crowded into the Plaza de la Corredera to witness the launch and cheer on the most popular local fiestas of the year.
The Administration «peña» was elected to the honour by winning a ballot.
