Following the loss of his seat on the Town Hall Committee, after the
PSOE secured a landslide victory in May¨s local elections, Ricardo Garcia has
decided 14 years at the front of the United Left party is enough.
Speaking about his last four years as a councilor he told listeners to Radio
Calasparra: “I feel that maybe weI could have done more, although I am proud of
the projects we have started.”
Ricardo secured the casting vote in the elections four years ago when the PSOE
ruling party and the opposition won the same number of seats. He has formed
part of the PSOE local government, heading up the local Department of the
Environment.
Amongst the projects he started is the Public Allotments Project, putting
public land at the disposition of the residents to grow their own vegetables.
He has also introduced various initiatives to increase citizen involvement in
local government decisions.
“It is time to step back from the frontline, after 14 years,” he concluded.
