RECALL OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE TABLETS

The Ministry of Health has announced the withdrawal of medicines prescribed for high blood pressure that are being taken by some 20,000 patients in Murcia.
Patients who are currently taking these medicines are warned not to stop taking them before consulting their local doctor.
Over 100 different types of these tablets, containing as the main active agent “valsartan, have been recalled after the component, ‘N-Nitrosodimetilamina (NDMA)’, an impurity which can cause cancer, was detected.
The medicines affected are all in the form of tablets distributed by pharmacuetical companies and laboratorios: Kern Pharma, Alter, Cinfa, Normon, Pensa Pharma, Sandoz, Almus, Aurovitas Spain, Combix, Ranbaxy, Stada, Qualigen, Ratiopharm, Tarbis, Tecnimede España, Tedec-Meiji Farma.
