Some 90% of pupils at the Emiliio Perez Piñero High School joined pupils from other local schools to protest against the “LOMCE,” a new form of university entrance exam introduced by the current central government.
The pupils, supported by a high percentage of the teraching staff from all the ,local schools, gathered at the gates of the High School and marched into the Plaza de la Corredera where they displayed an enormous banner rejecting LOMCE.
There were demonstrations all over Spain today and some pupils from the High School travelled to Murcia to joint the demonstration in the region´s capital.
The following statistics refloect support for the strike in schools in Calasparra:
Las Pedreras Primary: of 228 pupils, 49 attended clases and 179 pupils joined the strike.
Los Molinos Primary: of 190 pupils, 59 attended clases and 131 joined the strike.
La Esperanza Primary: of 223 pupils some 27 joined the strike.
Emilio Pérez Piñero High School: 90% of pupils and 30% of the teraching staff joined the strike.
